Wow it has been a massive few months… Back in July we kicked off with a solid 5 week training trip in Italy at our beautiful base north of Milan, Varese. Here the ladies group, consisting of Hannah Davis, Alana Nicholls, Bernadette Wallace, Alyce Burnett, Amy Peters and myself, had some great sessions and in general a very productive and enjoyable lead up to Worlds in Duisburg Germany.
The Mens’ Sprint squad also joined us to use the start gates and soak up the Italian Summer.
Racing the K2 500m with Berni we were very happy with our racing, a little disappointed with the tough fight in our semi for a gut wrenching 4th (only 3 crews progress to the A final) where we missed out by 0.2 seconds. Winning the B final to take 10th position, a solid result as a new crew on the World stage.
Teaming up in another new crew and a limited number of sessions in the ‘big boat’, stroked by Hannah Davis we raced our heat in the fastest Australian time to date of 1:32:468 a very positive progression as it was our first time racing!
Tough conditions in the semi where we did progress to the A final finishing a solid 7th with more to look forward to as the build towards Rio 2016 gains momentum and the hype begins again.
